In 2006, these children in Bracknell in the UK were among the first to try out a unique and happy new foot-and-ball activity: the JustOneWorld Game - J1WG.

Over a hundred children at St Margaret Clitherow Catholic Primary School played J1WG in Year class teams, achieved a School United Team Score of 2.8613 goals, and were the first to get the Good Sports Certificate.

In 2008, the JustOneWorld Game is going global. J1WG will feature world and national League Tables - showing the achievements of teams of all sorts. And they are packed with potential to help kick poverty into history - as a a contribution to the white band activities of GCAP - the Global Call to Action Against Poverty.

It's appropriate.  In the wake of the great MakePovertyHistory campaign, J1WG was created by Hugh Gibbons, a volunteer with the much-respected humanitarian aid agency CAFOD, one the 160+ NGOs in Caritas Internationalis

Unlike most sporting activities and events, it's the people's game.  Yours.  Whoever you are, you play it wherever you want: in school, at home, in the workplace; by yourself, with friends or family or colleagues, or anyone around.

And if you're on the playing or coaching staff of a professional or experienced amateur soccer club, then there's a, well now, testing version of the Game for you - the 11-Metre Challenge...

The 'Rules' are simple - and you can adjust them to suit if necessary. You just need one ball, something to serve as a goal, and at least one player.  That's all J1WG takes. Teams play each other without travelling. And they use an unusual scoring principle in sport: average goals per player.

The JustOneWorld Game is packed with potential for being a force for good across the world (for example, to support the work of charities and humanitarian agencies, helping kick poverty into history, and letting different communities share experience and values).

Polar BearPenguin Wave
And polar bears and penguins can relax!
Though teams may “play” others
anywhere on our planet,
no travel is involved.
With no driving or flying to play or watch,
there's no undue addition to CO2 emissions.
(If anything, players tend to
hold their breath while taking a kick!)
