NB CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB...
How the words of Peter Ustinov,
Nelson Mandela's PA, (and even professional footballers taking the very last kick of the Champions' Cup penalty shootout...) |

Peter Ustinov said that most games played internationally
were invented by the British.
And when other nations beat them,
they just invented another game. So welcome to the latest lateral thinking: the JustOneWorld Game. It's good for good sports of any age - anywhere. |

But you'll find it's, well, different from anything
that's gone before. That's why one PA said: "It is a most remarkable idea
and invention to benefit a cause very close to Mr Mandela’s heart." You can quickly play J1WG as a team of just one (such as yourself). Or of dozens of other people. Or hundreds. Or thousands. Or millions. Anyone in the world. Anywhere. Of any age. And of any mix of players. Without discrimination or barriers or officialdom.
It's a proper People's Game - one to let villages and refugee camps play Championship soccer clubs; small schools take on big businesses; teams families and friends match the scores of worldwide agencies.
J1WG has even got good CO2 news for polar bears and penguins - teams don't have to travel to play each other.
And one key purpose is to be a useful contribution to the global call for action against poverty in 2008 and beyond - a cause very dear to Nelson's heart. |

The core of the Game?
Well, Victoria Beckham and I are alike. She's supposed to have said: "I don't know much about football. But I do know what a goal is, which is surely the main thing." Quite right. The running, passing, tackling, and dribbling often show thrilling skills. But even with all the fancy footwork, getting the ball into the goal is what counts. That's what J1WG has in mind.

Very many thanks - and well done, whatever you get to score.

PS You'll also find details of a good-fun slideshow presentation run by Ug and Tip to help explain J1WG to yourself and others in a team.
You'll see Ug is in charge of FAQs, and Tip has some good advice.
