Lynda Mussell, Manager of CAFOD Portsmouth Diocese, says:
"CAFOD is lucky in having particularly strong homes in all the Catholic primary and secondary schools across the Diocese - indeed, in all England & Wales. It's heartening that so many young people and families and school staff not only make such a big contribution to fundraising, but that they care so much about knowing and understanding - and wanting to do something to make poverty history.  We're delighted to be able to help the ethos of the schools in giving children values about caring and compassion that will stay with them all their lives.  So a big thank-you to everyone - and well done!"

Both Catholic Primary Schools held assemblies - and were part of the total of nearly 17,000 children, teachers and parents across the country. Organised by Hugh Gibbons of CAFOD Portsmouth, it was a contribution to the 50 Days of Action of the Global Call to Action Against Poverty and the UN Millennium Campaign.  In all, over 116 million people took part - setting a new Guinness World Record

For more information on the whole event, praise from Bishop Crispian, and a list of schools, see www.just1.org.uk/schools.

Photograph policy at public events
As a general rule, no close up face-on photographs of children will be
shown on the JustOne website
or any that will give their identity.
(See the picture on the left)
Exceptions might be where permission is obtained (from, for example, a parent) for a photo to be taken
and used responsibly - or where the photo appears in the public domain (eg the one above appearing
in a local newspaper)

So events such as School fetes - on the left - will feature only adult stallholders and helpers.  Where possible, subjects will be warned that the photo is to go on this JustOne website.

Set-piece events such as
the one on the left will usually feature no children anyway - just their handiwork.

At mainly-adult events -
such as the Evening on the left - as much as possible subjects will be warned that the photos are to go on this website as a visual record.  Anyone who doesn't like their photo taken will be excluded from the photogalleries and video clips.
Most photos are edited to make them interesting pictures - eg by cropping. So they're not just your usual face-on stiff-bodied group pictures.
If you don't want a photo to
stay on the website, just contact hugh@ahaa.org.uk
and it will be removed.
