St Andup says: that's one of my mottoes.  In May, Harrogate Council announced: One of the smallest primary schools in North Yorkshire has won this year's local Yellow Pages recycling competition.  St Joseph's Catholic Primary school in Bishop Thornton has just 28 pupils and each of them collected 11 Yellow Pages from friends and family to stop them going to landfill.

St Andup says: many thanks!  I see that a group called Building Bridges have been coming into school and teaching Year6 about the meaning of such words as empathy, racism, faith, prejudice, values, conflict and diversity. Sounds like a great idea.

Late news!  Donna says: Our Year 6 pupils are going up Pendle Hill on Friday. Our school looks right at the Hill, so hopefully we will all say our promise whilst looking at each other, although miles away.

Their previous Deputy Head has moved to Thailand recently and they are hoping to develop links with this independent school in Thailand. 

And Mary asks: at what time should we stand to make our promises with others? Any time that suits you. Many schools will join in during morning assembly or prayers - so 9-10am. But others will find some time during the day.

We are a Catholic Sixth Form College in St Helens.  We achieved Fair Trade College status this summer and have links with CAFOD and the Lasallian Developing World Project, taking time out in the summer to help build schools in Kenya, Ghana, Sri Lanka and India. We at St Hubert's did the Standup at Church last week using the prayers as bidding prayers and collecting signatures after Mass. We did the same thing in a family assembly today, while the parish joined us at their Mass today and used the pledges as bidding prayers. We have collected loads of signatures which we are sending to Gordon Brown and John Spellar MP. It felt great to be doing something. Altogether, we reckon 600 people have taken part.
