Creator and Conductor of Just1
Hugh is a
sort of human Swiss Army knife. He took the scenic route through his
business career. This allowed him to pick up a wide variety of
communication skills, many of which get applied in Just1 and other
activities: letters, posters, press releases, this and other webpages and
websites, broadcasts, articles, and public talks.
- Media & Schools Volunteer with CAFOD - the
Catholic Agency for Overseas Development - fundraising, speaking,
training, broadcasting, writing, carrying the vest round three Great South
Runs, reporting, animating...
- Christian Aid house-by-house
collection organiser and collector
- Fundraiser for Action Aid, Red Cross, Save
the Children, MIND, Samaritans, Age Concern, Oxfam, Christian Aid, MENCAP
et al
-
Public speaker on some startling subjects
- Creator and Conductor of Just1 StandUps
- Creator of the JustOneWorld Game
- Born in Bristol; brought up in
Birmingham despite being in the house when the bomb hit
- Educated at Moseley CofE Primary School; King Edward's School, Birmingham; Trinity College Dublin
MA
- English and Economics teacher at Wycliffe
College
- Advertising copywriter with Notley Advertising
- Leader of creative services and marketing teams in
healthcare companies

- Creator and Conductor of
Ahaa!
a business
psychology association for non-psychologists - where people of different
disciplines and levels could chat over the back fence - arranging and
chairing 150+ meetings

Medicine, University of Surrey
The aims of Just1 StandUps?
For those of you who like that sort of thing,
here's the sort of thing you'll like - though you may find they bring a bit
of a difference. Click here to find some aims and
purposes. Funding of Just1 StandUps?
Deliberately, hardly any. The
activities are low-cost: a bit of paper mailing; a lot of nudging by e-mail;
some phone calls. There's no mass distribution of material, because this is
available to download and print as you want. And Hugh's time is free - a
gift to everyone.
As
in 2008, a little funding comes from Hugh's personal pocket as a pensioner.
And this year, any fees from Hugh's public speaking have gone into the
StandUp pot. Like the Queen, he never discusses money, but very many thanks to: Tadley CSRF;
Ockham WI; Probus Old Beaconsfield; Wokingham Council Older People's Groups;
Hampshire Blind meeting at Holy Trinity Aldershot; Woking Maybury Women's
Club; Chiltern U3A; West Byfleet Evergreen Club; Wokingham U3A;
Wantage CWL, and
others. |
